Elestra or Saleana: Which Elemental Lord is Better in Dragon Nest

No one will argue with the fact that Elemental Lords are the main damager in Dragon Nest. However, when the discussion comes to the point where we determine which Elemental Lord is far more superior, players have their own opinion.

What is an Elestra? What is a Saleana?

Before we go deeper to this discussion, let's know first what is an Elestra and what is a Saleana. Basically, Elestra is your typical Ice Witch which focuses on Ice skills that can both freeze and slow an enemy while dealing damage. While Saleana is your typical Pyromancer who uses the element of fire to burn her enemies to ashes. So basically, one way of determining which class you prefer to use is by determining which element do you prefer the most: Fire or Ice.

So what element is better? Fire or Ice?

The two element do have their very own unique ability... OBVIOUSLY :D. Fire (Saleana) has this burst damage quality. This is why EL's are considered to be the main damager of the game as when you become one, expect to see lots of damage numbers popping on your screen when you are using Fire skills (espeially in PvE). In addition, Fire has this effect called burn effect where it gives extra damage over time to the enemy. In conclusion, Fire is all about damage, nothing more, nothing less. On the other hand, Ice skill are more of controlling a crowd. With its slow and freezing effect, you will surely have the upper hand in fights as you can control the battle.This is why Elestra are considered great in Colosseum as they have the ability of decrease movement speed and immobilize. In addition to CC-ing, ice skils has this ability called freeze stacking which basically double your damage dealt to the target if you hit them while in frozen state. So basically, Elestra are better in PvP while Saleana is great in PvE? Am I right?

Well, this is what's believed by many. The fact is: It's easier to hit players in PvP if their movement speed were decreased or they have been immobilized by freezing skills. On the other hand, it's easy to get in parties if you have high damage and of course, it's easier to clear average dungeons if you have high damage also. These are the principles why players consider Elestra great in PvP while Saleana great in PvE.

However for me, this may not be true at all times. Personally, I say that 90% of the time, it depends on how you build and how good you control your character. Remember this, if you have great items but still you don't know how your skills works and you just act without thinking, then probably you will die often in dungeons and far more worst, you will be marked as a NOOB in PvP. In conclusion, you can't really determine who's good in PvE and who's great in PvP as Dragon Nest isn't fully dependent on gears but on the players ability.

Is there any other way to determine what Elemental Lord is better?

Aside from determining which element do you prefer the most, one other thing that you can take into consideration in choosing between the two is by determining who got the advantage on unique skills. In short, let's compare their Ex's and their other class specific skills.

First, let's compare Rolling Lava to Ice Spear

The ability Ice Spear to freeze enemies really epitomizes the CC-ing ability of Elestra. Take note that once you cast this skill, you will throw a ball of ice which will hover slowly and it shoots ice spears out in all directions which both deal damage and has a chance to freeze the enemy. On the other hand, Rolling Lava is an all-out burst damage. Once you let this big lava ball roll, I feel sorry to those targets who will get hit. Well, we can't really determine that much advantage on both of this skill as they are made for a specific purpose. Once for CC-ing and one for damage. The only comparison I can make is that: Rolling Lava is controllable but you need to aim perfectly to make all the hit counts while Ice Spear is easy to use but randomly throws damage and freeze chance.

Now, let's proceed to Ice Barrier and Burning Hand

Well, the argument is still the same. Ice Barrier gives you survivability you need because it can absorb a couple of damage and of course the CC-ing as it explodes at the very end and can freeze a target. While Burning Hand gives an explosive damage to the enemy which often results to tremendous amount of damage taken by them. In short Ice Barrier for CC while Burning Hand for more damage.

And lastly, their Ex version: Freezing Sword Ex Vs. Fireball Ex
IMO, Ice spear has an advantage over Fireball. Take note that Fireball will just give you an option to throw three fireballs in a fan-shape and of course, additional damage. While Freezing Sword when enhanced with the Ex version, becomes a long ranged attack which can juggle an enemy to the air while dealing more damage. Based on the Ex version of their skill, Elestra gets a more bigger upgrade, as it gives you a long ranged spell.

So in the end, which do you think is better Elestra or Saleana?
Well personally, there's no better class as they both shine in their own unique ways. My advice is, if you choose survivability, CC-ing and double damage then go for Elestra. On the other hand, if you want a class which is superb in dealing damage to targets, then go for Saleana.
